Dragnet was the greatest police show of all time! Sgt.Joe Friday (Jack Webb) was the suavest, hippest, and coolest TV cop ever to ever hit the small screen! His partner, Bill Gannon (Harry Morgan) eventually became a Colonel (Sherman Potter on M*A*S*H...but that's another thread)

Yes Dragnet was another of those "Must See" programs as a kid. The other cop show for me was "Highway Patrol" with Brodrick Crawford. Really brings a flood of memories back to me. Especially the car chase scenes in Highway Patrol. I even liked the ad for the production company who produced Dragnet. It was MARK VII productions. They had this hot greasy hand (looked like it was a blacksmith or something) that raised a stone chisel and a sledge hammer. Then one good whack on a stone block and you would see MARK VII productions hammered into stone. I always waited to see that after the credits at the end of the show. It was cool and still IS cool in my mind.

I also liked "The Streets of San Francisco" and "Hawaii 5O" for cop shows. And let's not forget "Car 54, where are you" in the catagory of Cop Comedy shows.  Cheesy
