WELCOME FLEA!!!

(oops, sorry about that...it's coffee time in the winners circle!)

"...ah, another pretender, there have been many but no one is as mad as the flea..." retorted the goblin, and then suddenly he remembered his nemesis the PCC "...oh, except them but they will have to catch me first, the Internet is wide..."

and with that the goblin's good deed of the days had been done, he had seen buttercup before from this thread on the cofffeenole site, suspected that she had mommy leanings but it didn't matter the question was what the goblin would post here for her coupled with the other question of what he would like to post here for himself

On that note, the Crown Prince of the House of Maxwell is left to ponder one real question in the existence of the goblin...where did the Flea obtain the moniker "Sir Augustus"?

"...thanks..." said the goblin slowly sounding out the thread, he liked admin's question and took cue form it

repost
coffeenole site, last post thread, page 7
Quote
he goblin wanted to lose but then realized that it would only cause division amongst the members here as to who in fact had won in his place, so merely wishing to keep the other members as equal to himself as possible he decided to generously rename himself Augustus (meaning "first amongst equals") and somehow hoped that the other members would share in his happiness then,

yours sinfully,
Augustus Fleamailman

though to be honest the goblin never did find out what brand X was, his world was the old one across the waves
and waters

OK, good explanation...I don't know of a finer gentleman with whom I could share my real first name! (http://img215.imageshack.us/img215/1878/welldone1kb3.gif)

"...thanks "first amongst equals"..." said the goblin who was always flea to everyone, and who, in those rare moments where he pretended to be a human in real life, sometimes forgot to use his human name, "....ah, but what is brand X..." repeated the goblin remembering that it had lingered over three pages on that thread

and suddenly the sandman was shooting at the goblin with his zapgun, "...zap, zap, zap...", "... aha, missed, this is my thread..." the goblin was running "...no, no I'm staying here on my last post thread, you''re not fast enough sandman, admit it, sleep will never catch mezzzzzzzzzzzzzz

"...ah, signs of life..." said the goblin feeling that if that there was one thing the humans did well, it was "greed" but little did they know that they were dealing with a black-belt "last post" poster, "...post at your peril humans..." he softly warned them without him even reaching across to his coffee, he was fast

"Brand X", for some of us, was Gasbuddy.com; "Brand X", for others, was the Comcast Coffee Shop.

the goblin thanked admin for the details, and promised to return to the game tomorrow, adding that he would probably be posting a lot more here since he always had to store stuff somewhere on the Internet before it was lost for good this is, "...simply I never really know when my posts are going to be trimmed away so keeping one step ahead of the forums is all part of the game to me..." explained the goblin

Title: Re: the last person to post here wins

the goblin filled out the notice: "Missing, American housewife last seen pushing grocery cart down goblin's last post thread, if found please return to her to the supermarket where another one can be duly attached, warning, do not feed and do not approach as she can be dangerous in that she might fall on you, thank you", "...there slot the things I do for this site, honestly I should get a "bottom poster" award for this...", "...goblin, if we do come across this American housewife ourselves...", "...don't worry slot, I have it all planned, we can borrow a dumpcart, turn it on its side and roll her in, ah wait a sec, how are we going to get the dumpcart upright again, you know slot this could more difficult than I thought..." said the goblin open to suggestions

repost from elsewhere

slot in the next room starts playing the piano, "...you must remember this, a kiss is but a kiss, a sigh is..." the goblin rushes in "slot, I thought I told you never to...", "...hello goblin..." she interrupts him, amazed, moved, he looks at her until he could say "...hay kid, of all the "last posts" in all the world and would have to chose mine...", grandbo flicks her hair back, smiles and says softly "...goblin.." she paused and then restarted "... goblin I need your help I want my grocery cart back..."

Title: Re: the last person to post here wins
Post by: fleamailman on March 26, 2008, 05:58:35 pm
another repost from elsewhere

so this was it, the goblin was to face off sheriff grandbo on the laundry room site, the air was tense inside that saloon where the goblin now swigged his coffee the muse begged him not to go saying "...don't go out there goblin please, for my sake and our slot then..." he brushed her aside saying "...a goblin's gotta do what a goblin's gotta do...", he started wading for the saloon day, the Western guitar music cut in, high noon was striking as he paced towards her, somehow the goblin knew that one of them would live while the other would be American housewife pushing her grocery cart though the sky

from the coffeenole's male/female "last post" thread

and suddenly the crow laughed "...aha..." for seeing below him pink and and blue spelldust coming out the "last post" chimney to the repeated commands of bibidy bibidy boop "...blue...", then "...no pink...", and then, "..blue I tell you...", and with that sleeping goblin's fate was sealed, grandbo would prick sleeping goblin to sleep

Title: Re: the last person to post here wins

yes princess had won, "...everyones who posts is a winner for a while..." thought the goblin, "...it's just that life continues so one has keep on winning not so much against the others here..." though the goblin admitted that that was fun at times too "...no, the real win is against the part of oneself that just wants to live life from day to day without looking, without forming an opinion, without whatever..." the goblin blurted out at himself since somehow he now believed that growing older had something to do with gaining depth at the expense of letting life's distrations go, yet the other question narked him too "...should I be living life for my old age then..." he wondered

repost from a certain sister site with unfortunate Scottish leanings

"...another day, another madness..." thinks the goblin as he says "...lesser mortals, I thank you for calling this thread "the last word" in order to protect me but if by any remote chance you come across some vague stomping mommies in search of some goblin guy, just carry on like nothing has happened, these things happen all the time..."

footnote: for those Scots out there, here is your translation

repost from same sister forum

the goblin, ever in his wish to support all previous posters upwards, has been thinking of how to help the presbyterian church of Scotland could possibly gain a wider appeal saying "...um, well we don't need to update the words much, just the music like so, but anyway it has to  be catchy and something we could all sing together, right here goes...", he clears his throat, finds his key and sings "...brimstones, meet the brimstones, no have a do day, no have a do day, no way a gay old day...", he stops "...well slot, what do you think...", "...I don't really know goblin, how fast can you run...", "...well slot, we're already running from the mommies, think of it as adding zero's to our very own "wanted" poster...", "...true goblin but what if they place the zero in front of the one again...", for a moment they looked at each other before running off again, leaving the reader lost for words since they had taken them all

sometimes the goblin had to be supportive too

upusmctd.com
Quote
I am last, what do I win

"...you win the chance to post again..." said the goblin knowing that the alternative is just living without posting, not as good as being able to post, "...you win a trip of self..." replied the slot, "...you win whatever you can think of in thought form, anything you imagination can muster..." ventured the muse looking at the goblin  who continued "... perhaps you win a place in the history of this site and at least on this thread..." but the goblin knew what it was that one really wins, he simply said "...friends..."

an observation

it wasn't that the goblin was sometimes thoughtless, it was that he was normally thoughtless and sometimes he saw just how thoughtless he was that shocked him

on the boy who had got into laundrylady's site lying about his age, who got turned out

poor stevie boy had learned his fate
for five long years he'd have to wait
but if somehow he could wait till then
he'd learn that the goblin too, was only ten

"...well, um and perhaps a bit more to look at..." thought the goblin

the goblin thanked princess and the soapwatches for their humble attempt to covert the inevitable course of things and sympathized deeply but alas time had given the last post once more back to its rightful goblin who loved this thread because no matter how his own fortune changed here at least he like anyone else could win just by posting but he reminded himself that this, like any other post, might well be "his last" so he always wanted to post something he would like to read later even if in fact he wouldn't be able to being no longer in this world, "...anyway we goblins are silly about leaving deep footprints in the snowy path of life..." he thought, "...more snow will fall and all would be forgotten but here we thread on then just enjoying that crunchy sound snow makes when it is well crushed under each of our steps..."

meanwhile, back at CIA headquarters agent Joe is carefully monitoring  Al Qaida's secret website at his desk, he thinks "...where's mac with my coffee then..." as he starts reading through the new posts for subliminal messages, reads: "infidel, may a thousand scorpians sit on your bum, your goblin days are numbered, this my "last post" thead, it is written" then ", agent Joe looks up agent McCoy who has come with his coffee, says "...you take over mac, I'm beat and need a break..." turning to the second screen with the CIA site, he sips his coffee, feels better, clicks "new posts" and writes: "listen goblin, there is no way this thread is yours buddy", somehow the goblin is always supportive, has just likes sending people up he felt

the goblin today has been trying to get into "barbies world" unnoticed, and admittedly in his defense the last post thread there rooted, and that now all that remains is the reply to the "welcome fleamailman"thread a site always starts for their new members, something the goblin always loves for the ways it can be played, this time being:

repost from "welcome fleamailman" on barbies site

Quote
"...thank you dear humans, but I feel that in the introduction to fleamailman we are missing a certain "je ne sais pas" here, and perhaps such terms like "wonderful" "amazing" "awsome" "stupendous" and "spectacular" might be loosely sprinkled together with others like "magnificent" "fabulous" "incredible" "brilliant" etc to make a more welcoming welcome here..." he paused adding a proviso saying "...however if you feel that there are too many superlatives here, one could omit one or two and still find that the text is little undiminished in the truth it so clearly professes..." uttered the goblin in all humility as usual

Title: Re: the last person to post here wins
Post by: fleamailman on March 29, 2008, 03:11:41 pm
and then the goblin felt that everyones effort should be rewarded saying "...by this post all previous posters are promoted, yes that is that they are all one post higher on the thread..."

the goblin promised "...if all my "last post" threads were deleted then the goblin's past posts would be lost because that would have been their worth and their fate justified...", so part of the game is reposting and editing elsewhere,  part of the game is supporting the admin in his or her wish to having posts, hits and new members too, part of the game landing on new sites and starting new "last post" threads, but the biggest part of the game is just seeing what in my life is "worth posting"...", the goblin's coffee was getting cold but he never forgot his post that proclaimed "...my Internet self is going to be great, amazing, etc, simply this is the goblin's picture of Dorian Gray then..." and what surprises the writer of this text is that the goblin is no different from anyone else here

"...happy April fools day..." said the goblin knowing that that was probably the right word for sleep-deprivation resulting from trying to take over the internet by stealth, in fact, his email inbox resembled a jungle of "last post" replies, his sanity by the way was now that faint dot on the horizon long behind him, it was as if Captain Kirk's words sprang to the goblin's mind repeating them as "...dart dadar di di di di dee....Internet, the final frontier, to boldly start "last post" threads where no goblin has gone before, to meet an endless stream of engaging dotty humans....da dar dar dardar etc..." then adding "...okay Slotty you can beam everyone else up now, I am staying..." as the goblin then pressed his "post" button

"...Batman, what say you that me and my merry men joineth this brigand in Gothem forest yonder and there offer council that he may yet steal but from the rich to offer unto the poor..." "...alright Robin what's that in English and start the sentence with "holy cow Batman"...", "...prithy who sayeth "holy cow Batman" in this here age thus, t'is but a fabrication of the mind's eye m'thinks, come let us settle on "haynonnyno Batman" t'is wisdom is it not...", the waitress interrupts the goblin's string of thought "...excuse me could you pay your coffee it's 3 francs please, oh let me guess, you're a writer..." "...well sort of I'm a dyslexic with multipersonality disorder and a posting addiction..." "...great I've never met one of those, could I have a signature in case you become famous and die, thanks..." "...here you go, by the way do you know sometimes I wonder if the gods might actually envy us our mortality..." "...oh that's too deep for me, sorry but thanks anyway..."

the goblin didn't want a win, he wanted a triumph but not a triumph against anyone here, "...far from it..." he said "...I want a triumph that anything wonderful me within reaches the slot here..." said the goblin not really knowing if, when or where that would be, just that it wouldn't if he stopped reaching for it

the morning darkness, the goblin has a coffee as if waiting for the rain to stop though it won't, not for now at least, and work beckons him through it, the goblin looks at a reflected light in a puddle below to gage the droplets against the need for an umbrella, chooses a book from the shelf for the bus journey and readies himself making sure that he has switched off the lights, locked to doors and placed his brain firmly into standby, he steps out and is pelted numb, or who knows perhaps he was numb before "...greetings great temple of the Moneygod, count me amongst your ranks then, I do your bidding..." he says to the waiting unmoved metropolis as the scene closes upon him

here was only one score for the goblin that mattered "...have I caught what I feel today, and if so did I post it..." remarked the goblin as his way of scoring and at that moment as if to underline it, the late bistro played "Golden Brown" to a full house of lively chatting drinkers while a lone figure sat in the corner typing away, looking up and then typing away again before he posted

Title: Re: the last person to post here wins
Post by: fleamailman on April 07, 2008, 11:35:27 am
yes there were scores of posts the goblin noted, but somehow when the goblin looked at the slot there was that sole feeling of reaching in and writing out "...it has to be honest and it has to be me..." expressed the goblin who was in this respect perhaps alone with everyone

at the point the goblin's mother, who he had not seen since he a returned to Geneva almost a year ago, was well enough placed and tilted back in a armchair come wheelchair unable to sit up, unable to do much by herself but in no discomfort that the goblin could make out, the conversation was one way, the goblin would ask, his mother would smile and deflect, "...what are you thinking now then..." the goblin asked rubbing her right hand between his, "...I don't know...", and pointing to the windowsill flowers "...which is is you favourite colour...", "...I can't say, I don't remember...", still rubbing "...you're getting better...", "...am I, good...", then dad would bring the freshly squeezed orangejuice and a cut pear to her and she would first sip through the beaker and then pick up bit of pear, and then about half an hour later the visit would be over and the goblin would be telling dad about how it could be so much worse which they both knew was true and that the goblin was "there when needed", the goblin's life was not on hold he felt but neither was it his alone either, he remembered a boss who had befriended him once who confided the following "...I don't feel like I am above people, I just feel like so many people depend on me..."

the goblin lived in the old world where television was different saying only the big American programs reach here so the best television shows he probably had missed, "...besides, the remote belongs to my children who always invent a plausible reason why one such as me gets no TV for their M'TV..." the goblin's face went yuck just remembering it adding "...well that is when my son isn't playing the PS3 killing people on combat missions..." so the goblin had learned the simple truth that after one finally learns that "when you have children you mortgage your future" one learns the other sad truth that they walk off with ones television too

the goblin sat in the bistro, singing "...I'm dreaming of a white springtime...", outside the cascading snow fell upon the steadfast city, only melting into the wet hard ground below but not without first trying to rest, the people walking over the street-slush now somehow reflected their resentment and resignation in this cold city scene, the goblin somehow felt that now the trap was perfect but would Harry Lime actually show up this time

the goblin too felt any change of pressure with any oncoming front, slowly an unwelcome moderation of his lifestyle is being forced upon him as he now compromised between needless preservation and reckless behavior, simply he lamented the truth saying "...consequences kill ones dashful spirit..." as he surrendered to his growing age in real life, ah but there would be no such surrender on the Internet saying "...my internet self is going to be amazing because I keep at it, I just keep at it..."

the goblin, that practiced practitioner of poverty, has slowly learned through his life that poverty helps us cede the superfluous, in that any money the goblin earns goes straight on his family's needs or gets saved for the family's needs later, the goblin was almost amazed by the little he himself actually needed to be happy, everything the rich did seems either to be too much effort or too much responsibility for him

"...chin up princess, we all have down periods and they often tell us more about ourselves than when things are going well..." said the goblin who loved Seneca's quote "misfortune is the chance to show character", then he added "...think of how many silly admins I had to go through to find those who I now admire for their qualities..."

the goblin liked the idea of a chat room saying "...the trouble with a chat box, is that the posts do not build up, texts cannot be edited for typos and there are no notifications of replies..." something that the goblin felt to be bad for any interested poster like himself, he continued "...so the "chatbox" is often counter productive sucking away posters from the important threads for its ease of use while adding little of any long term value here...", the goblin's coffee was running low, he would have to call over to the bistro owner for another but he just wanted to explain more for the moment summing up by saying "...it is for this reason then that you see a thread called "the last person to post here wins" on each of the main forums "the coffeenole", "our hang out" etc., where anyone and just post anything and as many times as they like, so it isn't a game at all, it only looks like one and jokingly a poster can say "I win" or "I am last again" and play it that way but it rarely continues like that for long, since most posters have a goal in their posting, that is, that they want to develop their style..." he signaled over the waitress

Princess, over the last four years, you've gone through many life-altering events...some not so great, and some wonderful. Changes, whether good or bad, can cause a person to feel out of kilter...The thing that sets you head-and-shoulders above most people is your ability to turn a negative situation into a positive one. When things look bleak, try to remember that God has you in the palm of His hand, and the darkness will soon yield to the dawn (http://www.chicopee.com/smileys/SmilyBlinker.gif)

the goblin writes a postcard to his mother, it reminds him of when he used to write postcards home when he first came out to Switzerland 20 years ago, dad will read it to her and his daily visit will pass with them in a higher spirits, "...a postcard a week..." promises the goblin knowing that what he wrote wouldn't be remembered by his mother, nor that it really mattered, it was only something to lift her spirit in the moment and leave her feeling happy for a while

the goblin too, felt he had to put a little bit more into his posts, perhaps he would do a few more depictions then, somehow he was not seeing what he saw for what it meant saying "...depictions, force one to describe it in turn forcing one to look at it closely...", the muse was watching, her trick was either to give the idea to the goblin or to jump in half way through his text and change everything to her liking which admittedly was normally mad enough to have the goblin running behind her to trying to keep up with the beauty of it, she was like granny doing a poll dance where one doesn't want to look nor miss it for the world

the goblin wakes at six, an hour or so before the rest of his family but it is really just a short period to be alone with his thoughts, the sky outside is unbroken cloud, somehow the goblin equates himself too to this unbroken cloud in his wish to think beyond the cloud cover of work and family, not that he doesn't like both, just that there are times when he remembers that there is something above and beyond them

the goblin remembered Kipling's son, and how in the Great war he had used a pseudonym to hide that he was that famous author's son, and then when he died he was buried along with the other soldiers while his father spent his whole life trying to find out what happened to him only to die in his turn without ever knowing the truth, and then a few years ago, Kipling's son's grave was found ending the story, "...had the son lived, or if the father had learned the truth, no injustice would be felt by the listener today..." ventured the goblin adding "...but the storyline lives on still, that is, if that can be considered a recompense of some sort..." somehow the goblin understood what he couldn't explain but his blog is that sort of thing he knew

"Ah, goblin. The hours fly by and the minutes are just a vague blur." muses The LaundryLady.  "It seems like just a second ago that I attempted to wrest the last poster crown from your head"

the goblin would give that crown to laundrylady whenever she wished knowing that it would roll back to him soon enough, "... it's like a box where I am systematically pulling things out trying to get to the bottom of it and still there is just more and more..." said the goblin adding "...the funny thing is that the box itself doesn't look that big..."

afternoon, and the bistro claims the goblin once more, around him lots of noise of lively people, their banging to plates, cups and utensils fill the room with only imagined motion since the goblin has his back turned it and their chattering against the pointless radio music above, he is about as un"here" as possible then, in fact, he is here quietly polishing something backstage before he does the rounds on the sites he loves, one thing though, he is across from an old woman with Parkinson's disease who has just eaten lunch, it isn't the done thing to talk to her so the goblin ignores her, eye contact too is avoided and besides neither her nor the goblin would know what to say if they struck up a conversation and then again what would they say if they met again as personal space in society is limited, and what if she turned out to be strange anyway, this then sums up the fear of most people have in other people, and this partly explains why the goblin himself doesn't have an age nor a photo, then she calls for the bill, the goblin and her smile at one another for a moment as she rises from the table which the goblin has pulled out to let her pass, she says "...thank you...", "...you welcome..." replies the goblin as she walks by as if as some challenge had now passed, "city life" is like this then, but the goblin's Internet life would not be like this the goblin promised himself saying "...OK so I won't talk to myself in real life instead I will post against myself on "last post" threads...", and with that the moneygod noticed that one of his minions was slipping through his net of reality again

repost from "I remember" thread

the goblin's ghosts made a queue to be posted here, the first one said "...I was the you in the Troubadour(coffeeshop) remember, you would learn languages there only to then say goodbye to everyone and leave for that disco alone where you danced for hours until finally the disco closed and still alone you walked home along the Thames river bank, you had the light body of cat that belonged to the night with its two moons, one reflected in water to those night-lights like stars, you had your full youth your power and in that ever intense silence and freedom you had that overwhelming sense of self existence, didn't you, all cloaked in a "warm night" that as if gave you its body as your partner...", the ghost fell silent again looking at the goblin the way people do when they are powerless, so the goblin just promised "... no don't worry ghost, I will never go back there looking for your past body, I am not that stupid..." a smile, perhaps even a tear came across ghosts face, and with that he slipped back into the depth and darkness of the goblin's memories

today the goblin, his tour being canceled(though lack of victims), has now been let loose on humanity in Geneva's city center where, in need of his usual Internet sustenance and lack of choice, has gone on line into some Rizty tearoom where, seated near some ladies on the next tables drinking their Earl Gray tea to neatly cut cucumber sandwiches , drinks his espresso pneumatically knocking the remains of his brain to the sound of heavy metal under his headphones only to notice that his laptop is now running low of power, "...no choice I guess..." he thinks as he moves across the children's play area where seated on a chair about the height of his shoes and puts the laptop on the low table plugging it into the wall, where he is befriended by toddlers fascinated by the smileys next to the slot, and yet the goblin doesn't explain that they serious tokens of communications used to express abstracts, both intellectual or otherwise, knowing that probably their mommies would understand all this even less than they did, so somehow the goblin concluded that perhaps he doesn't quite blend into the scenery this morning as he typed on

Hawaii is great, wonderful weather, the sun, sand and sea are just like those photos, though to be honest I do find the diet of fish and rice to chop sticks rather challenging  though the receptionist's English was better than my Japanese but the television does have a wide choice of Japanese programs I am told, anyway I miss my grocery cart and my laptop too but it's only two weeks and then I'll be back in America

the goblin was never alone here on this thread, nor disappointed, he reassured everyone, "...the path between "being misunderstood" and "failing to get it right" was often narrow, bumpy and frustrating..." the goblin admitted "...but..." and the goblin stopped explaining as he just had that unexplainable feeling again so the slot just gorped saying "...look goblin, just say, "because it is there, folks because it is there" and leave them guessing, since sounds better than "because I am probably mad actually" don't you agree goblin..." slowly the goblin's hand made an agreeing movement with the mouse to the "post" button as he clicked it with release

Dear flea,
Well I must admit this holiday is turning out to be quite an adventure as our galley slave boat got attacked by pirates who turn out not to be such a bad lot after all, albeit that we have yet to negotiate a suitable price for my release, that is, even though I have suggested I would go no higher than a couple of cows for myself at this point, they are holding out for some chickens too, the question being do I flatter myself by agreeing that I am worth that much then, anyway good luck with that "last post" thread then,

the goblin thanked everyone once more for their courage to keep posting back, the great white still mauled at the goblin's body but his mind was beginning to craw out it's shell and bite back, and then the sky opened and the deluge fell, the goblin ever seated in his bistro blessed the heavens for their consideration as a cool torrent fell into the street outside, "...so that wild horse in the "Misfits" had broken free form the lassoing men after all..." felt the goblin who somehow knew that he himself would never "take form" on the Internet saying "...here at least then the clock stops, the mirror is foiled and the power of ones imagination gives ones spirit such a freedom that dailylife and the moneygod can only watch and follow in envy, as that spirit too gallops on and away from them..."

"...and so, may we have the next contestant please..." the goblin smiled while the lights and camera turned to a new face smiling, she seemed a little tense but alert while he approached her, "...well hello there miss, and let's give a big round of applause for..." the goblin passed the mike towards "...Princess Buttercup..." she says as the clapping starts and she shivers shyly the goblin says his ditty "...nice to meet you, to meet you..." as the audience shout out "...nice..." the goblin continues "...OK, Princess Buttercup are you alright, you remember the rules of our little game then, the curtains will open you have ten seconds to memorize everything you see, then we'll close the curtain and anything you can remember is yours, it's as simple as that, you're not nervous I hope...", she looks across to the goblin "...well flea a bit really, but I will do my best, promise..." and with that the great curtains open while the audience counts the seconds down on the clock "...ten, nine, eight, seven..." frantically her mind made a quick picture as her finger pointed to where the televisions, cameras, laptops, and the car were, somehow she knew she could win this "...three, two, one..." the curtains dropped together again "...well Princess Buttercup, the big question, can you tell everyone what you remember then...", "...well goblin..." she starts with excitement and then bursts out "...there's that Batwoman mask, that sensuous thin riding crop, the super sexy tight leather corset with uplifting cups, oh and those pointed high heals, that pair of handcuffs, and I think I saw a black hood with matching black swimming trunks .." the fingers of her hands clutch together in expectation to the goblin who, turning to the audience again, says "...oh and didn't she do well folks..." as, a bit confused, the goblin dashes behind the curtain to check for himself just in case she was right

the fallen rain evaporates away replaced by an unbearable heat that seems to stick to this scene where the goblin continues his guidework on the outside while inside he simply appreciates the view of this castle of Chillon set majestically on Geneva's boundless lake to a background of white'ish mountains , "...this castle was originally built by Sir Cliff Richard..." says the goblin gaging the Britishness of the group who don't really want guiding but still expect the guiding that they don't want to be there, the goblin sends them inside with a smile, as he moves slowly towards the coffee-machine next to the tacky gift shop and the shaded table for his laptop where those other guides might light-up but where this goblin hooks-up instead to his small potent coffee, some Joe Jackson music and that ever escaping imagination of his, the song being "invisible man", the words loudly repeat themselves in the goblin euphoric mind "...you can't touch the invisible man, you can't stop the invisible man..." and every note and word reflect exactly the goblin's feeling at that moment, even if the goblin also knew that this type of moment soon retreats back into the drudge of his dailylife again

the goblin hits the bistro and everything is hot, the music is joe jackson's "king pleasure", and the coffee, like the goblin's life, is bittersweet but the women tonight if you could imagine simply everything in ones body thumping in sexual attraction following those sensuous pouting movements of these goddesses on heat, "...wow, play to me ladies and I will catch you in this piece forever, you'll never age..." the goblin shouts his promise at them

from the goblin's dear all diary, 16th January 1997

Dear all,
Welcome to Siberia upon suburbia, Geneva seems stiff in a deep frost and a seldom seen sun that is a mere ember of its normal self, though all this falls beneath Alice and the dormouse's consideration when these primates wait restlessly for hatter(dad) to finish boiling the sachets of ravioli and sauce which, apart from fry-ups(to fill and flounder one) covers the sum total of his inextensive repertoire to date; in fact, it's "just as well" since these children somehow epitomize that term "what the horse don't know the horse won't eat", and, what with hare(mum) being away for two whole weeks, hatter as a now not too overtly optimistic surrogate mum thinks "...no this is not "just as well" it's more like "appropriately well" yuppie..."

the goblin himself had been haunted by the old executioner's line "est is sic nocens morior"(is it so bad to die) no, not in some silly action way but more in contemplating what is after all an inevitable arrival for all of us, "...is this the point of Hemingway's "the old man and the sea" book, is that what were doing here on this thread then..." asked the goblin but that old Roman line just pulled the goblin onwards ever out into deeper water

well the goblin this morning had been abducted by cannibals so he had to explain to them that after years on his high caffeine/aspirin diet, really whichever way to cooked him, he would invariably taste of coffee so he suggested instead the average American housewife who came ready larded and with her grocery cart as an added bonus, the cannibals smiled with an array of pointed teeth "...one question goblin, if they are so good to eat why don't you eat them too...", "...well I can't say that I haven't thought about it but I have cavities so caffeine and aspirin are just easier to prepare..." said the goblin waving them on and goodbye

Dear all,
My wife hasn't even got on the plane yet, but there seems to be a silent chorus going on just a bit beyond earshot going: "...but they'll drown..." and admittedly I haven't always given the impression of even the remotest aptitude towards housework, let alone looking after children on my tod, but it's only two weeks, alright, that's two whole weeks then, and as long as I get them to follow my non-existant rules with bribes of happymeals and cigarettes, I can just slip into the recesses of my own bed-covers albeit occasionally having to stick out my nose to check for smoke. Anyway, besides, etc., once a place becomes untidy, how untidy is purely academic is it not. With situation firmly under control somewhere, I remain.,
Yours sinfully,
A fleamailman

"...are you for real..." came the voice within him, "...don't know but I know the Internet is real, just as this thread is real, even your reading this post is real, and yet a person's sincerity is always unknown to someone else, so whether I am "for real" or "false" falls on the viewer to decide here..." ventured the goblin, adding "...in fact, each post I do is dead by the time I hit the post button, but it is this long time facing the open posting slot here sifting though my thoughts and feelings that makes posting worth it..." meaning that the goblin was probably hopelessly insincere towards others here, that is,  as the goblin was looking inwards each time but what of it

the bistro owner's wife is enormous for her short size, the goblin often looks at her not so much for some indecent intention but more as the object for some great hug, the personification of Gaea in his view, and in this adoration she would make up for every other woman he knew and whether his hands would meet behind her back didn't matter, no it did matter and they wouldn't, wow at the thought which alas is all it could be.

The goblin feels like he is in one of those "planet of the body snatches" films where he is battling some invading life form for control of his system, first off his stomach growls, then his nose is not to be trusted anywhere near the keyboard, and above all his voice above and between the wheezing coughs sounds like "Conan the Vegetarian"(or whatever is PC these days), and it is in this body then that the goblin watches the rain gently falling onto the slush left over from colder times, "...the outside reflects the inside..." said the goblin knowing that it would pass

In this background then Geneva's lake looks like one giant duck pond today, but the writer of this letter has just done his stint in the "Protection Civil" so please rest assured he knows how to put out chip pan fires, put up bunk beds and how to wear a blue boilersuit with a yellow helmet, even if that is, in the face of avian flu, global warming, stockmarkets crashes and everything else, "...so where do I throw my bucket of sand then..." asked our hero again.

Dear all
The ticket still reads "Geneva-Bern Return" but the goblin didn't really want to go(while knowing he should protest) so he had said, "...hey, well I was too young for those Vietnam protest marches, in fact I've never protested in my life, sounds great(lying), well you know if you go I'll go with you...", etc., his excuse and exit ploy based on the fact that surely she wouldn't leave her book shop he had thought, the next scene is the two of them together with some others eating sandwiches heading towards Bern to protest the war, and yes, once there the mass sea of protesters reassured the goblin of his stance, yet even all that heated emotion couldn't hide the freezing cold of the day so the goblin gave up, returned to the warmth of Bern's station where boarding the train homewards alone he slipped the ticket into his pocket and slept soundly; a week later she was dead and her bookshop with her. Today, and so many years later, the ticket still conjures at her ghost who asks for nothing, "...it just was..." the ghost would say as she had said so often when there, somehow she was always like that the goblin remembered.

"...sounds exciting at least..." said the goblin, whose life was one of a tourist guide and computer repairman on the outside, though that he knew had little to do with him on the inside since he felt he could become anything he liked if he tried hard enough, "...the internet is a masked ball..." said the goblin adding "...why, is anyone ever old or poor or ugly on the internet then, is it only because they insist on being who they see in the mirror maybe..." reflected the goblin adding "...who knows perhaps the "reallife" me is just another mask too, as his mind flashed back to Alexandre Dumas's book, adding "...am I just this iron mask given to me at my birth by my maker, or is there a real me behind all this then, if so that is the face that I am looking for here..."

29)The goblin noted that the local swimming pool is now open three months of the year and whose owner who is always out to make it pay has come up with this novel idea "the family card" to intice the locals to turn up, yet the goblin also thought that perhaps the owner had over simplified things this time, after all in this village where everyone is related to everyone else, the owner will only have to issue one family card.

the goblin could feel the night dragging down his senses, "...just one more post for the road..." he said knowing that it wasn't the post itself so much as the long moments trying to choose the right lines which made that post for him worth it "...it's just like shopping..." said the goblin "...cheap things are everywhere and easy to buy but choosing "value" now that another matter..."

"...all of us in the same boat, and despite what they say I don't think the other countries can stay afloat if America sinks further..." mentioned the goblin honestly, adding "...television coverage owes us the truth in my view but just how much of the news they give out covers this global downturn at this point, in fact, it almost feels like the media is being used to prop up the status quo..." said the goblin who loved America because he loved its peanut butter

"... well I guess I can't really keep track of my posts but at least I can repost some of those posts on another site like here in a neater order..." answered the goblin looked across at the plume of smoke ushered sideways in the breeze, the day was beautifully bright and inviting, yes it was that but it was that for a wrong reason the goblin felt, as a ghastly cold awaited anyone reckless enough to go out to the bistro on this very early morning, and yet again the goblin's choice, he surmised, was a stark one, either "stay home and get roped into a series of household chores by the captain" or "swim it through the bitter cold to the bistro where he could still be called back" so as always the goblin's mind made a checklist of "probable chores" against his other list of "possible excuses" while the goblin wondered if he ran it bath would it stir the antagonists in their beds on this "Sunday lie-in", somehow the goblin's bath would be deep one he knew

from the goblin's dear all diary,  28th November 1996

Dear all,
Cold is king and reigns supreme in Geneva where it ushers most people in their homes  and the homeless into the station where they look on as a man collects signatures for the protection of dolphins in which a country which has no sea and no dolphins, just dole-queues. Into this then the homeless face the stark choice of putting up with their day's week's month's year's and final lifetime's worth as life's losers "alone", or joining the drunks in a stupefied social-life much to the dismay of the impression conscious shopkeepers who move them constantly around the mall, this choice is simplified when that homeless person just asks himself if he has the guts to constantly face his lot or a good liver, well anyway, for me at least it forms an ironic background to “Thanksgiving” tonight.

"...we wish you a merry Christmas and a happy new year, good tiding we bring..." and on hearing that song now the goblin was once more back at the Bookworm bookshop with the ghosts of his past, the son stood by the counter and recalled how he had received a postcard from someone who had died in the planecrash the day before, the mother sat at the cashdesk pricing the books and somehow the goblin fitted as he hand-wrote his "dear all diary" or something thing else wordless except for asking the spelling of something, until the droning carol music which had got to everyone there had got to the goblin too, so he paid his coffee, and started singing in tune "...we wish you a merry Syphilis and a happy Gonerear..." only to be dirty looked by the mother into silence who couldn't help herself bursting out laughing two seconds later, "...we are not the Red Cross..." she would say but the bookshop was exactly that, and when she died this world collapsed, and within a year her son too, who first lost the battle to alcoholism, was found drowned in the river, so if they are reading this now their goblin friend misses them and his "dear all diary" should be theirs then

here then the goblin posts his wish, something that he has often said to himself "...um I wish that I could do the right thing and that the right thing would happen..." and yet the goblin also knows too that life just isn't like that, cheap in outlook, so the goblin doesn't look to the reward in his actions each time, or more simply that "his actions" are all the reward he can expect and again the goblin felt that those actions became just that much more honest when it is like this "...heaven and hell are not my motivations in my actions, I am not for sale..."

the goblin is now vaguely watching his son try out his new game on his playstation called "Doom-magi" where the box, written in German and as far as the goblin could make out, probably reads "chose one of three heroes  Balthasar, Gaspar, and Melchior who, trying to keep up with the traversing star, battle through the throngs of head counting minions of the evil Herrod all the way to Bethlehem, collecting gold, frankincence and myrrh on their way only stopping to trade at the taverns for lifepoints, weapons and armour upgrades, and camels speedups", to which the goblin concluded that he may be reading the box wrong again

the goblin posted against himself here, or at least that part of him that was saying that there was nothing worth posting in life, "...I win against this empty feeling then..." said the goblin in the dark for early morning, outside, the cold announced the coming of snow and the difficulties of it, inside too the room was a chill sharp silence that the goblin's own warmth wasn't enough to really change "...I will post this and then return to bed to rest then..." typed the goblin continuing "...never mind, I suppose whatever happens will have to happen then, but whatever happens to me personally, one thing I can see is that spiritually I have grown an eye at matching myself to my posts here, that ability is thankless yes, as it is useless and worthless in the eyes of "dailylife" and the moneygod, and perhaps even it's a bitter fruit in itself, but it is me and these are mine and they are so very much in spite of them..." ventured the goblin

rule 283: safely passing pedestrians:

if passing, in correct order
- smile, ignore person if they don't smile back.
- then say "..hello...", ignore person if they smile walking on by.
- then say "...I think it is going to rain...", except when raining where one then says "...I think it is going to stop raining..." ignore person who wears a Tshirt marked "Islamic Republic of Dungford"
- then engage in half an hour's smalltalk without mentioning the foxban, the English civil war of 1642, and HDTV.
- then sign off by saying "...well it was very nice to met you again..." regardless that you have never met them, or that you are bored out of your banana.

In other words: poke your head around corners, dash behind cars tiptoe across the streets all in mission impossible style.

early evening, and the moneygod has now released his lackey goblin to his own devices, usually meaning a tromp to the bistro, a coffee and the "last post" threads where, caffeine and spellchecker permitting, where the goblin will regain some semblance of sanity simply by trying to write his "dailylife" all out of him system, yet the more the goblin wrote about "dailylife", the more that disparity became obvious to him, his "dailylife" wasn't his sum total, but against that it was as if that line "what in ones life is worth posting" just bugged him knowing that the moment the goblin replied to himself "...nothing, I won't post anymore..." that the goblin would simply be dead before his death too, another mind drowned in "dailylife"

the goblin had noted that most people's life of complacency was now fast turning into a raging storm, "...the trouble is that if the banks don't go to the wall, then the fat cats win, whereas if the banks do go to wall then we lose too, the real question is which banks should go to the wall then I suppose and which should be bailed out..." said the goblin, adding "...but bailing out the banks with taxpayers money just continues the murky status quo here, since no one knows which banks are clean and which aren't...", at which was the point the goblin remembered that lowering the bank lending rate meant nothing too, if no one will lead money that is, "...America is bracing for the storm and could even default now, but no one knew what that storm really was in itself, and what it really meant for America's citizens and the rest of us..." so the goblin felt that a mentality of fear and hardship, real or otherwise, was arriving here, and that its momentum didn't need much reality to sustain it, just needed more fear to feed this now fast approaching storm

the goblin was trying to think of far away places but, now and again, the present cold bit through into his thoughts as that ever bitter wind somehow peculated from outside into the silent sitting room today, outside, where the sun should have been, a dull lit sky told the goblin yet again that without gloves and a scarf his hands and face would simply burn stiff with cold, and that it was through this harsh gantlet of cold then that the wretched goblin now had to go for those groceries once more, "...pass, give this fate to someone else, some super hero, I am not worthy, no, please no..." sighed the goblin in vain recalling those images of the Titanic colliding with that grocery cart and then slowly sinking into the sea of supermarket indifference as he opened the front door taking those first steps once more to the words "...for whom the gods wish to destroy they first send them shopping through this then..."

the goblin liked the frogs saying "...not many frogs in Switzerland bar the normal ones but, what with the reintroduction of the wolves here, the number of foxes should now decrease giving other small animals  more chance to survive...", in fact, the wolf helped the forest but the bear was too dangerous for their reintroduction since people were everywhere within this seeming mountain wilderness

the goblin casts his heart after his thoughts elsewhere and still that cold slowly creeps into his soul, somehow the image of the Snow Queen laughing wildly down the frozen high streets taking ever more handfuls of diamond dust from her open sack to the words "...you wanted beauty mortals but as always it comes at a price doesn't it..." and admittedly Geneva looked beautiful for it but her price was unforgiving

The fish under the frozen crust swimming oblivious to the outer world, insulated from the blast of the north wind.  She pondered the lives of those fish, did they even know of her plight in the tower, no they did not know what they did 1 min ago.

(the princess was talking about "dailylife" the goblin felt, "...as it too easy to swim in the water like those fish then, the question is not so much what one was thinking five minutes before but collecting ones best thoughts..." said the goblin knowing that that is what he did with his replies, those which he then edited, polished, and illustrated here, saying "...is one getting the most from posting otherwise...")

the goblin agreed to be himself but just didn't believe that the person in the mirror was really himself either here saying "...two sides of the same coin I suppose, yes, but still neither can really claim to be more me, and yet one I know well as my "dailylife" me or self while the other is here now as this persona produced through what one writes mostly and to a lesser extent by ones unsername, avatar, and forum affiliation..." mused the goblin as he continued "...it isn't that one lives a lie here I feel buy more simply that, since one is already hiding one identity,  one chooses the identity and level of truth that one feels most at ease with, but let's admit that we do that in real life too, only that there is less leeway to do so, but we still try to hide our heart from our sleeves then ..."

the goblin doesn't have bad days "...to be able to post means that it is a good day..." said the goblin confessing that some good days were more soul-testing than others because there was little love lost between the goblin himself, "dailylife" and the moneygod, in that what the goblin wanted was an impossible freedom, while what "dailylife" wanted was all so very reasonable but all so superficial too, while what that moneygod wanted was ones continued commitment to some cheap slavery, the goblin was just trying to square this triangle then

the goblin's blog

“...hello there...” says the goblin addressing the matron in Dungford's very own, and one and only, heathfood shop again “...I would like a meaty coffee where ones mind goes ping after a few sips, you know, a coffee with a body like a tigress whose bite is more like Dracula's...”, “...sorry, is that “regular” or “decaf” dear cause I'm in a hurry...” replies the matron whose ominously large cups came into view behind her, “...no I mean a little cup, boilingly hot mountain fresh water and those thickly brewed sensual coffee grains strained to the point of perfection...” uttered the goblin in panic now, “...well I'll see what we can do dear but...,...”, moments later “...here you go love...” as one large but near empty cup is steadfastly landed on the table whose contents just seems to laugh at him daring him to drink it, while the slot seems to say “...look, I hope you don't mind me saying this goblin but I do feel that our vessel of escapism has somewhat crashed on these rocks of reality this morning...”, some time later the matron bellows across to the goblin the usual “...well love, what ya think how was it, fancy another one then...”, “...well you English make absolutely exceptional coffee but I'll give it a miss this time, thanks all the same though...” replies the goblin aloud as he writes in the slot to keep it from busting its guts out loud in the laptop, “...well slot, they say “lie back and think of England”don't they, so I just lied back and still thinking of England as some huge unwinnable battle here...”

(the goblin sympathized but couldn't change the situation, saying "...ours is to witness what happens next...")

the goblin was thinking about those faulting banks, seeing only three basic paths here where non of them seemed ideal, "...first the government could keep on injecting tax payer's money into the banks as America has done, meaning that the banks have then no real incentive to correct their ways since the system would simply interpret it that the government didn't want to get involved and would continue throwing good money after bad..." explained the goblin turning to the other two paths, continuing "...the government could nationalize those banks, as the British have done which still would mean using tax payer's money, yet as a result the currency has weakened under the burden since the debt is simply been transfered from the bank to the state itself, and the "doubt" too, has spread across from the banks to the whole economy with it..."  continued the goblin, readying the last path, on thinking on "...the Swiss, in fact, do not have the money to bail out the Swiss banks, the banks would have to go to the wall and all those, who had put their savings in those banks, would lose all...", no the goblin didn't wish to chose here arguing that any one path was better than others here, only that he wanted to see clearly for himself that "crossroads facing the governments" at this point knowing something had to be done though

if nothing humans ever do is important in itself on the grand scale of the stars across the universe, one is actually free in ones own insignificance
Yes, that is the problem I am facing.  I would like to get another book published and again head to conventions, but as long as I stay an internet writer I really have no restrictions on what I can write.  If I actually manage to gain some significant fame, I might be forced into the blandness of modern fantasy (I actually heard someone say that they felt modern sci-fi/fantasy was so standardized that it was written by computer programs with the actual writer only adding some mood and character flavor).

I believe at present life itself will keep me at home.  My children are at the age where they are trying to make their own decisions, and actually seek my advice.  I am however again getting tired with teaching, so looking for something else - and I really do enjoy writing.

"...ah but that is where we differ then mortal, I have no wish to be their type of writer, a "writer's writer" or that "best seller" type writer, for I am, and will always remain, ever anonymous here with only the goal of creating my Internet self and that other goal of knowing myself form what I have posted..." ventured the goblin trying to keep his mind off the falling rain outside and that ever dull depressive continuation of his "dailylife", "...besides..." he continued "...books are all dead, or at least their authors have set them in some sort of published cement, but not here, not now, here the author is me talking back to you before you reply, here you and I are "author/reader" then, this is live writing where the only win is to take the last post because it is the one that isn't dead yet, only those who don't post lose here..." and then the slot wondered if the goblin could hurry up because the captain could return any minute to find out that her tyranny of household chores had not been followed by her perpetrator of them, the goblin's fingers hurried across the keyboard again, somehow his morning slumbers were now in deep peril he felt

9. Sorry to inform you, but the waitress(er) who served you that last cup of coffee is starting their career as a mass murder and you are their first victim.  They have slipped high powered rat poison into your coffee and soon you will dead, again sorry.  A year from now, when the murderer has gone on to kill thirteen more and is finally caught, your image and name will be splatter all over the news.  A well known true crime author decides to write a book about the killings/victims and researches every aspect and deed of your life, both online and off.

What will they title the chapter about yourself and what will the first paragraph be?

the goblin's future ghost showed up to write the reply here, "...oh, so someone did bump off the old fart after all, figures, mind with all that coffee he drank he was a good as poisoned already..." the ghost read the the next bit, "...OK, "what will they title the chapter about yourself and what will the first paragraph be", um, no idea, better call the muse over for this one, it's more her type of thing I believe..." as he looks at her pointing to the screen with both prodding index fingers, then wisely jumps back letting her take control of the keyboard as she freezes in front of the slot

"...you know, looking at this place..." an inebriated arm swung outwards above two cannons of white sitting on the bistro table, presenting those other neat tables and most empty chairs, "...but.." as he splayed his fingers out in an outstretch hand only to turn them inwards clinching into a fist that, in a sudden pull, he returned towards his chest again with a severe vice like motion "...she killed them, one by one by one..." not that he was talking to anyone in particular around him, he fixed his gaze on someone and then the monolog just continued "...oh, and there was that old bloke with the laptop..." he smiled at remembering "...that's right, the one that mumbled texts, always seated in the same corner table that is, yes, he was the first one, ever looking across the room or making sideways glances at people, rarely talking, just typing, always typing, silly looking guy, oh what was his name again...", the man seated near by replies "...I think it was fleamailman, can I get you another glass perhaps..." the drunk is first surprised then nods with a smile, as the other man signals the waiter "...make that two canons please..." as the waiter pours the hard dry white "...so you knew fleamailman then, did you know the waitress too, look, you see I'm writing a book about this whole thing and I've got the basic details together, the plot, the people's background, but the motive is missing, or at least it doesn't seem plausible to me, I mean, she didn't gain anything by it, so why poison people in the place where one is serving, surely the police would know straight off wouldn't they, unless..." and with that the man broke off hoping the drunk would fill in the blanc, "...sorry, well yes, yes, she killed them, one by one by one..." the voice was losing coherence, the eyes glazed over in a stupor, and the interview was over but the man just asked again "...why commit a crime which leads deliberately to ones own incrimination here..." as he picked up small slip left with the drinks, and, walking over to the counter, pays it, somehow the encounter with the drunk hadn't changed the facts as the stood but somehow again those same facts no longer seemed to fit so neatly here, there was more to it the author was now certain, and he knew it would come to him, but which one was the actual motive here, as his mind seemed to make a mental list again but none of those motives seemed to sing to him, and with that he knew he would return the next day too, "...I know this is trying to tell me something..." the man just voiced softly in the stark street walking away

"...oh no, never..." said the goblin who wasn't wishing anyone a happy Valentine's day, "...no, I would wish someone a tragic, yet all too romantic, Valentine's day, in fact, one of those adventurous Valentine's days where all is still so uncertain and unfolding on the outside, while inside one is felling hectic and overpowered by ones chaotic emotions..." mentioned the goblin reminiscing again

the goblin though that Macbeth's downfall was "not thinking it out enough" whereas Hamlet's downfall was "not acting soon enough", the goblin continued "...in fact, Shakespeare was probably aware of that book "the Prince" where, in it, Machiavelli writes "the lion falls into traps, and the fox gets eaten by wolves"...", so the goblin just wondered if "the lion of Macbeth" and "the fox of Hamlet" could be examples of this idea then

his trivial day over, the goblin returned to the slot but, as of yet, he hadn't reached that depth that would come later in the hour he knew, "...the posting is the easy part but finding something "worth posting" here is both the challenge in itself and the reward of this game then..." voiced the goblin in the quiet empty room once more where the slow ticking seconds seemed to tally the duration of his wait even if "the actual time itself" at that point along with all else was irrelevant, somehow each repetitive tick was just enough to let the goblin know that the hour was advancing in a steady passing sensation as the goblin carefully sifted through his thoughts again, "...I suppose it's for this sensation of depth then that I keep facing the slot like this..."

"...Richelieu once said "secrecy is the first rule of state", and the important thing here is that "secrecy", in this sense, isn't some childlike denial, or refusal to reply, or straight out lying either, it's that actual "where am I in all this"...", and then the goblin felt his nagging need of a coffee again, he was now fighting a sensation of dullness of thought which was taking over, either way the goblin knew he would have to head into the kitchen in a moment, but meanwhile he just continued "...anyway, the world of adolescence, as opposed to that of adulthood, is the one of finding ones "secrecy" mistakenly thought of as actually gaining some outright independence, for "secrecy" one can have in life if one constantly keeps it in focus, but life doesn't let one have that true independence, if only because society functions on the surrender of everyones independence within it, in that the moment one asks "what do I want from life" one is just buying into the system again..." mentioned the goblin finally heading headlong into the kitchen

"...you see..." the goblin explained continuing "...it isn't enough for me to create a persona here, one has to create an effective harlequin to narrate the scene too...", outside, in the now unused streets that this Sunday morning offered those few passersby under some gray sky dullness that was all too typical of Geneva's early Spring, a longish day awaited, one that would just follow its unadventurous course as always, inside the bistro though, it was different in that the goblin's coffee, being half drunk by now, fueled a mind that was ready for posting across the Internet for all that anonymous critical acclaim and recognition by the plebs that only one as deluded as himself could possibly crave for, save that the bistro's WIFI at this point was down again, "...plan B then..." said the goblin who fell back to his second fiddle of preparing something to post later, concluding "...for me, these "last post" threads act both, like a spur goading me on to post back regardless, and as a constant benchmark of my posting ability to aim at, no not "what do I win here", more "what am I losing if I don't" which keeps me at it...", the harlequin then narrated the bit about the falling near freezing sleet viewed from the window and how this barred the goblin's physical escape from the bistro all at the very moment the WIFI had returned, "...so I'm stuck here on this thread with you mortals MYAHAHAHAHAHA, cause I'm certainly not going out in that then..." wailed the goblin squatting on last spot here again, slowly the snow took over from where the sleet had left off

[footnote; direct continuation from previous post above]

the goblin was thinking about this now relentless curtain of cascading  snow, which had taken over from the sleet some hours ago, knowing that as long as it fell like this he, together with those around him, was stuck in the bistro sharing the same emotion of disbelief at it, "...for now is this Winter of our discontent made whole by the view from this window..." joked the goblin not really laughing as umpteen glum faces somehow looked forlornly up to the heavens for a moment's rest bite, out-glummed only in intensity that is by the bistro owner himself who knew his "takings" wouldn't merit his "hours" again and what better target for his griping than those squatting laptops users the goblin wondered, nope, the goblin didn't need to wonder he just needed a cloak of invisibility at this point

"...so all I have to do is post to win..." remembered the goblin as he looked at the slot "...yer but not just anything please..." the slot replied, continuing "...feed me, forget the others because if you start to write to please them, you'll be no longer you, so trust in yourself and continue this "journey to self" from here goblin, it's all that matters...", the goblin felt that the slot was right for once, it was his journey alone

("...letting me win mortals MYAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA..." went the gobin)

the goblin saluted everyone and then just returned to the idea of keeping it random, his morning bistro session in full swing, he was finding his depth again, "...you know..." he started "...you win each time you post, in fact, strangely enough you win whenever and wherever you post on the Internet that is, but somehow, and as if always, "dailylife" just calls one away again till the moment one looks at the duration of the time that one has passed in ones "dailylife", against all that one has posted on the Internet to date, and feels cheated with perhaps only really oneself to blame for having not posted more often, nor with more depth that is..." ventured the goblin at himself here, so, for the goblin at least, it wasn't really that the he ever won against someone else on any site, for they too had their own journeys to make he knew, only that the goblin himself didn't want to concede to his "dailylife", with all its too compelling petty concerns, yet one more day that it had slyly diverted him from his "journey to self" here, "...oh, and "dailylife" my friends, is passed master at creating plausible reasons to break ones journey in a life that is always shorter than one thinks..." added the goblin ever posting on with little choice he felt

repost from a writer's site elsewhere, their "welcome new members" thread

the goblin showed, regally welcomed the new member to this site, and then had the bad habit of losing himself looking across the bistro floor at a child propped in a babychair who in turn, and in big eyed baby sort of way, was looking back at the goblin, "...her trick..." the goblin started, somehow guessing that it had to be a little girl here, since a little girl inter reacted with people more than a little boy who would being trying to escape from the babychair by now, but the goblin just continued "...is to drop the toy on the floor for someone to pick up, to which someone naturally picks it up, placing it in her little hand with some "aren't you cute" uttering and a smile...", to which moments later, and after she has licked the toy clean again, she looks around to see if her next target, in this case the typing goblin here, is game, and just extends her arm in that slow deliberate way letting the toy slip from her fingers, only to notice that the goblin is smiling, of course he'll pick it up for her in a moment he knows but not before typing this, saying "....you see in writing, if you do what is expected, as and when it is expected of you too, you will not be noticed..." and with that the goblin welcomed the new member once more

the goblin knew that both this thread and the goblin too, would still be here as long as the admin didn't ever closed it causing his departure, "...yes, it's true that I can't be on all the threads that I would like to be on..." mentioned the goblin clearly understanding that fact, but if a thread had new posts, that alone was enough t call him to a "last post" thread, "...simply, those notifications wake me to the fact that someone else wants to continue with me, so the madness continues, simply a "last post" thread, unlike a blog, is a glorified chat room, or a "show and tell" that's all..." and besides, the goblin always like pictures so he was easy to feed with posts in that way

"...oh no, don't bother to read my stuff please, a troll's golden rule is simple, "one writes for oneself, one reads for oneself too", lose sight of that and one risks becoming normal, and we hate being normal don't we..." said the goblin, adding "...in fact, you trolls should turn off the notifications here, vow not to look at the replies, and above all, not post back then, and yet the luxury in this life is "not doing what one should be doing for what one wants to do here" isn't it mortals MYAHAHAHAHAHAHA...", and with that the goblin knew that the trolls couldn't resist themselves, mind you, neither could the goblin, he too, hated that which life had lined up for him

("...desist mortal, you know I always am last here..." said the goblin)

the goblin flicked over his thoughts like cards, one by one by one, the rain, though never strong, had fallen unabated since the morning many hours back now, the bistro lunch-hour had the goblin thinking about something had read almost by accident, "...so it wasn't a suicide pact, or even a suicide for that matter, they had been assassinated in all likelihood, and the crime covered up, why, because the investigation would have either pointed the finger of blame at Hungarian separatists, or to one of Austria's enemies Prussia or France perhaps, in a time where Austria's internal weakness was apparent...", the slot was listening equally shocked it seemed, "...goblin, lovers don't beat their partner to death, Rudolf would never have killed her in that way, and yet those police forensics were clear stating that Mary died of being beaten to death and that he had died of gunshot wounds after a struggle, ah but with whom then, so it had been an assassination, the Crown Prince didn't die in some lover's pact at all...", "...it means Slot..." the goblin continued looking up from the table "..."politics before truth" here, that whoever wanted this event to have repercussions, failed because the royal line of succession had many replacements, simply it was covered up in a way that the later assassination of his cousin Ferdinand in 1914 couldn't be, the history books are full of convenient lies then, and no one now wants to believe the truth when the lie is so much more romantic, but that is humans for you..."

"...ah mortals, the moment you talk about belief you simply don't know do you however much you may believe in it, but can you argue that "facing the slot" like this is not a "journey to self" then, so why do you try to believe when you can know for sure if you keep at it, because you won't find it outside yourselves, simply your "dailylife" will show you your outer self, while your facing the slot like this will show you what lies within, that's all..." ventured the goblin, adding "...when you look out at the night's sky, you think you see the infinite, you don't, you only see some galaxies, so when you look at the screen here you might as well think you see some infinite for all you actually see, and if you close your eyes too, it's the same amount of infinite you see as staring at those far stars again, so knowing this, the point is not "what one sees" at all, it's taking the time out of ones "dailylife" to contemplate the infinite, and finding ones own way to do so..."

oh the usual stuff, the UFO had landed of course, and one of the aliens standing around had calmly asked the goblin why female aliens always spend so much time in the restroom, and if it was OK to light up a cigarette while waiting, "...go ahead and smoke, so do you visit Earth often then..." replied the goblin, not really liking the cigarette smoke but admiring the spaceship, "...why yes goblin, Earth's a great reservation isn't it, human nature at its best don't you think, oh, and those humans can be very entertaining what with that ongoing rat race of theirs, quite quite amusing, well it is when you see it from outer space that is, but then again what would your expect from creatures barely out of the stone age in the grand scale of things here, I mean what's a couple thousand earth years against all those light years needed to travel anywhere in space...", by now the females, with the young ones had turned up, and somehow the goblin just knew what he'd hear next, "...what, no way, surely we didn't come all this way just to go Mcdonalds...", came the line on cue again, if only because some things just seemed so universally universal

"...ah well yes..." replied the goblin welcoming xxxxx, adding "...though to be honest I hadn't really noticed much of this subliminal sexual context to ones posting till now that you mention it, something wrong with me then, or could it be perhaps the fact that it was "subliminal", meaning that one wasn't supposed to notice it directly then, or the fact that normal people don't post to "last post" threads that is, that has me now guessing that you have carefully dropped some subtle hint here that you are, in fact, a female then..." as the goblin's eyes slowly elevated towards the heavens in some profound realization and shock about it

With the first one, it was actually his wife who phoned me and filled me in on the fact that he was married!! Funny, eh? She wasn't angry at me, or abusive, but was more or less pleading her case as to why I should step aside and let her have her man. She needn't have bothered. as soon as I found out he was married I'd lost interest. I don't date liars and people who try and make an idiot out of me. She had him at hello,(as soon as I answered the phone with hello, that is!) as far as I was concerned!!

"...I must be odd then, as that type of deception just seems a 24/7 burden for some short term gratification or ego boost but, either way, the real life me is fast becoming a walking shadow of its Internet counterpart here....", one where the goblin simply divided up his needs, depending, between "porn", other people's company, and his "journey to self" again, while all along the old fart writing this had by now become passed master at deflection and invisibility in his real life, "...sorry, I know I should care about this Wendy in its "dailylife" more, but my Internet Peter Pan just seems so much more dynamic..." ventured the goblin at it all

the goblin was thinking about how the sky darkens early this time of year, with a wind who, like Autumn's acrobat,  simply sweeps up and gyrates that mosaic carpet beneath those trees that lines both side the street in ever changing kaleidescope of patterns, and where the air smells as it did once,  of damp foliage, in the dark, definitely warm and intense then, "...in fact, it's the time of year I love most then..." started the goblin continuing "...where as a child I kicked through these leaves that  I so carefully walk over now, where that drifting smell of burnt chestnuts from somewhere, or that real worry, of whether Dr Who can  really save this world from the invading daleks,  which seemed so much more pressing than any sudden shooting of a president or some far away war that barely registered on my little radar...", other thoughts now,  like fireworks in the garden, with dad playing  the grand magician's role to a raging bonfire, surfaced, "...oh yes, all that was Autumn in my childhood then, and this Autumn too, carries me back there once more, a spell perhaps, or some mere association then,  but anyway a vision as real to my eyes as it is gone to my touch, what of it, I salute it in its passing once more..."

"...no she never really forgives, does she..." said the goblin "...though she might let it pass for a while that is, it will return between them again, these things always do you know, while he for his part lives in fear if he values her, or as some trapped fool if he doesn't, where mistrust, disappointment, regret, shame and a whole bunch of other inner emotions flog the backs of their relationship from that point on..." mentioned the goblin who would never confess it, nor repeat it, nor ever talk about it now, just that from somewhere inside he knew he knew

Quote from: xxxxxr
xxxxx ponders the sayings that the goblin has posted and sums it up with 2 words. Free Will.... the goblin as well as everyone has a choice, to do what is right or to do their own thing.

"...ah yes "ones free will" again..." voiced the goblin continuing "...oh but there's that rub each time, that God cannot not know what a man will choose here since he knows everything down to the finest detail, both of what we will choose for ourselves now and of how it will turn out too, he is in effect the instigator of a situation that he himself has made here, is he not..." voiced  the goblin again and, although theologians had throughout history tried to square this circle, the goblin just reminded himself of something, saying "...it's only when I take "reward" out of the equation that what remains is a certain honesty towards my actions here, "do good because it good to", so speculation would just distort that honestly I feel..."

repost from elsewhere, the "dear diary" thread

the goblin today almost verged on his own sanity with a dead acceptance, heaven forbid that though, when what his heart really yearned for, was to imagine her sitting striding him on the bed, with his ever fumbling fingers of his two eager but grateful hands slowly proceeded upwards undoing each button in turn, and that amazing sense of Christmas at it all, but no, not just in some old memory of it here, no, to actually feel her weight upon him now, with that contrast between those hard buttons and that soft fabric around them in his fingers once more, those cascading interfering locks perhaps, that pleasant mildly musty smell, and her young guilty ever attentive smile upon him, followed by his arms dropping the garment over her shoulders to an unmistakable soft ocean of skin to his body's touch. "...so no, I don't want this cold sanity of today please, nor all this "what one should be doing at one age" prison then, when really I just want to clasp back even once to hold her like that in some overwhelming burning sensation of excitement and expectation again..." confessed the goblin, like it had been for him then, in those few unforgettable moments together with her, all that long ago now

"...often when writing something out here, I feel this "dailylife" to be just superficial..." ventured the goblin continuing "...perhaps it is madness to talk to ghosts of the past here, when every logical reason has it that I am alone just looking at the slot knowing that the others are apart from me now, as in elsewhere then, so my son is in the next room, my wife is in the kitchen, my daughter is having a night out with friends, my father is abroad, etc., but anyone looking from afar might laugh saying "of course your son is with you he is next door, and your wife is with you too, she is only in the kitchen, and your daughter is still with you, and your dad just lives abroad now, such a short distance then"...", the goblin paused to a moment to conclude, and then said "...so "near" or "far" is just where we decide our loved ones to be isn't it, and perhaps physically I am just alone here facing a slot as always, but I am often talking to the ghosts of the past in this present it seems, "dailylife" continues, true, but that's no reason to draw silly dividing lines in the sand, time's tide is a shared fate for us all here, there is no divide where ones feelings are concerned, and all things physical are just borrowed anyway..."

"...I guess one just learns how to communicate in a different way now..." mentioned the goblin "...I still do that is...", the night seemed a river of long moments to the goblin sat alone with his thoughts once more, "...and besides, none of them want me sad anyway, any more than I would wish that on my children when it's my turn to spectate then, "well yes, your sentiments are appreciated", I would say to them from up there then, adding "well why, I'm your biggest fan, just make this ring side seat worth it for me will you"...", somehow, the goblin was often talking to the ghosts of his past, he just repeated "...I'm just myself with them, after all they're not angels nor demons, they're just "us in the future" are they not..."

"...no I'm OK, in fact, my life and this mind seems relatively calm and relaxed now..." replied the goblin truthfully enough, only that he rightly suppressed it on the one hand, while facing the slot here on the other, resulting in his awkward dreams that much resembled an occasional stream of bubbles floating up in an otherwise tranquil pond below, "...besides, it changes nothing does it, thinking about it that is..." repeated the goblin again, while outside, the morning was turning cold with the late season, somehow its melancholy was part of that other scene now, where being joyous would seem unbefitting to it, so what else was there to do but to suppress its inevitable decaying reality below the mind's surface here, leaving only those few telltale bubbles to float up here and there in dreams as any outward sign of it

"...ah yes, we hit upon that "outer person" problem again, ones photo no less, not fair is it now, something one has no choice about, so on the Internet you can present yourself as the person in the mirror if you like under the graces or ravages of time I suppose, but that's not the true you, not for me at least, nor the you that Interests me now, so tell me then what you would like to look like if you had a magic wand, but, between you and me, this Internet means that I am probably imagining you to be like that already, amazing then how women look so beautiful when they feel beautiful about themselves, and how they flog themselves for that goal of "stunning beauty" which would lose them their parters, so is it their feminine counterpart to male "bodybuilding" I suppose..." the goblin paused, not an easy concept then, continuing "...think about this then, simply if "stunning beauty" were really the type of beauty every man was looking for here, then why don't more women meet that criteria in real life when, in fact, so few do...", a quick gulp of coffee and then "...no, men admire "stunning beauty" yes, who doesn't, but only as "something to look at", and yet, as with the bodybuilding analogy,  firstly, the vanity factor in that "stunning beauty" is a real turnoff here, where secondly, something that few men will openly admit, it is this "incompatibility with themselves" which stops them remaining in a relationship with a "stunning beauty" for long if at all, simply in the end ones parter is just the person one is comfortable with, and although one likes beauty in ones partner "stunning beauty" uneases one in reality, even if men, and women alike, dream of it..."

and with that the goblin showed saying "...see what happens when you mix your "real life" selves with you Internet personas, you just give people the rod by which they then can flay your backs with, whereas, if you had remained anonymous, what could they hurt you with...", in fact, the goblin simply understood that at the end of the day most sites folded or migrated, that their members came and went, that threads would close, and one would no doubt get banned somewhere for whatever, it just happened it was life, so no, something more fundimental had to be sought here he felt, saying "...look, it isn't what people think of you that matters when one is anonymous, it's getting into the habit of posting before one is too old to perfect it, you against your old age then, you against your "dailylife" too, so it's easy to waste ones short life on all this superficiality here, where don't you want instead to be challenging yourself as to what can come up with for yourself, since, at the end of the day you're the one remaining constant throughout, not the site nor the members..."

the goblin agreed that the forthcoming "currency correction" was almost amusing until one realized that one was probably dealing with the life savings of most people in the western world here, saying "..."currency correction" normally start with a loss of confidence in the financial system, resulting in high inflation, unemployment and panic bank runs, to which the government's first step is to resort to forced loans, coupled with a limit of withdrawals, as seen in Argentina, where as a result, people will then start to hoard money under their mattresses, to which the government will then introduce a new bank note thus forcing people to convert their hoard at a per person limitation, as seen in Vietnam, perhaps coupled by a "surrender of bullion" act, as seen in America, resulting in the currency devaluing to the lowest level after which, seeing that "system collapse" and resulting anarchy are not the goals here, things will go back to normal again, where the party that has instigated or witnessed this "currency correction" will lose the election having everyone believe that it is over and that it will never happen again, not realizing that their new state of poverty is, in fact, the spur to getting them productive again in a system where too much wealth is counter productive, is it not...", the goblin was just calmly watching its approach now, concluding "...funny how the media would have us look down at green shoots instead of the horizon here..."

the goblin had looked at most of those problems mentioned above in the previous posts and simply saw them as the very same newsworthy distractions used to avert ones attention to what was actually happening around one now, saying “...look closer at each one in turn, and simply ask yourself where it relates to you here, notice how the news is not telling you about the dollar has been bought up to the hilt by China, in that China needs to keep its currency low in comparison to the dollar, so China has been supporting the US dollar, yes, but not for america's sake, for china's own sake it seems...", and with that the goblin, seeing that they wanted to turn evreyone's attention to north korea here, simply wondered which country north korea was actually entirely dependent on, which was china of course, so it's a distraction again, China sphere of interest then...", whereupon the goblin turned to africa, where none of the western powers ever wants to get involved knowing that it meant indefinite sustained commitment here, leaving perhaps to news of iran too, "...now iran is not really the US's problem, by proximity it is israel's problem is it not, yet it serves both for the US's, and iran interests too, to go into saber rattling like this, that is, since it diverts the attention of their people from the actual financial downturn here...", simply the goblin noticed that the dollar was now worth about half of what it had been ten years ago, asking "...well now, do you honestly see something more imminent or greater than this devaluation of dollar reality as the real event of our age..."

the princess in her tower looked down and wondered why life was so hard and why being a princess her life was not sitting around eating bonbons and watching TV

("...perhaps because the life you want is the life you could least live with..." replied the goblin, adding "...a tough life makes one tough then...")

repost from elsewhere, a native american "last post" thread

nice pic. i am not as good with words as you brother Goblin. i sometimes stumble and my spelling  oops  when i have time i sitdown and write a few storys

the goblin too, was a bad speller of sorts, so he had to repost often across many sites, just to correct away those bugs from whatever he wrote that is, saying "...anyway, what matters is not what the others read here, no, only what one wants to say to oneself by it, why, because in years from now non of this will be remembered and yet one will have mastered this medium in ones own way, that's both the goal and the reward of posting here..", somehow the image of the native american, in that film starring Johny Depp "dead man", sprang to mind here, the parallel of it then, "...incredible wasn't he, somehow one could see what the author was getting at by that character then, that a powerful intellect, indebted to literature and poetry, feeling that fate had offered him this role of sending off to the next world a white man who happens to be called William Blake as in his favorite poet, an action of no base logic, nor self interest, nor personal gain, just something seeming right to him here..."

me

the goblin was having a problem with "me" as he saw them, perhaps the goblin was mad too, but, at least, the goblin was free, and would never turn himself to stone by what he did like the person writing this had, saying "... surely then, it's better to remain unknown as this goblin than "set in stone" of either a publishing world or your "dailylife" now...", simply their minds mused over the image of someone saying of person writing this here "see that person over there, well he's that goblin on the Internet", and then noting the observer's sudden disappointment at it all, but the goblin would laughed now, saying "...serves you right then, because you're "set in stone" of course, but not me, I'm alive and free until you break this spell here..."

I can't be bloody bothered to make myself look pretty right now but I've got to because quite frankly, I look like a boy.

"...no no no, first you just need to be yourself without makeup, and then if he shows interest, amaze and reward him by wearing makeup, otherwise you force yourself into a corner here, or you will be jealous of something as unimportant as those looks which most men don't really care about anyway..." mentioned the goblin looking out over the frozen rooftops of the cold city of geneva now, "...ah my beloved city of vanity..." he joked at it but either way he still had to go out into this cold now, no different from those "hunter gatherer" days then, same old palaver

repost from elsewhere, someone who had posted  a music stream by satie

the goblin loved that piece by satie, saying "...quite haunting isn't it...", while softly outside the quiet night too slowly reminded the goblin that he should have been asleep by now, if not before, and yet, in reposting his ideas here, he had got caught up in their editing again, for once more those little typos clearly had all the hallmark of the whyly dislexsick fairy, and where not her actually, the likes of ambiguity, contradiction and vagueness vied for the goblin's attention once more, "...oh yes I'm mad..." said the goblin at it all again, continuing "...indeed..., ah but not any old madness will do here, will it, no each studied madness has to retain a conveyed continuity throughout, well, if it is to be credible to the reader that is, for like hypnosis, it is both suggestive, and will only works through the imagination of a willing subject...", the goblin knew there was more, but the clock and the sandman were quite adamant in their shouting at him now, "...off to bed with you goblin..." they were saying again "...for tomorrow you'll regret having not slept sooner..." but the goblin knew that there was always regret where given a choice, or else it wouldn't be a choice at all, and thought on regardless of the late hour's passing

("...long time no see..." said the goblin, who had fighting trolls of late)

repost from elsewhere

"...why thank you my good human, if I may so bold as to call you one that is..." replied the goblin once more, while outside, the snow storm had subsided enough to let the minions of the moneygod continue their endless endeavors in this beloved city of affluence "Geneva & co", and well, into this then, dressed like a rather oldish teletubby, armed with his laptop and under the influence of caffeine, the lone goblin readied himself, without much relish mind you, for yet another tromp to the bank, read withdrawals here, the post office, read pay one tithes then, and the bistro, read lick wounds and drown sorrows in more coffee, so he hits on singing "...we're off to see the blizzard, the wonderful blizzard that was, that was, that was because, tralala...",  exits, only to take one foot outside the door and is simply buried in snow, where surfacing some distance further down the street, well, at the bistro no less, thinks aloud "...never mind your silly "secret of fire" humans, just tell me how one remains sane in all this "dailylife", I will let you live to do..."

repost from elsewhere, the topic of immigration legal or otherwise in the US

watching from the sidelines, the goblin appreciated both sides of the argument, knowing that all could agree that things couldn't remain as they are, and that some breaking point was coming, and that authoritarianism of one sort or another was probably going to result from it too, saying "...good, bad or whatever, the myth that we can become rich under this present system is wearing thin here, and if history is anything to go by, those who had flooded in will flood out, if only out of fear of being on the wrong side of that xenophobia which erupts in resentment towards the system each time, and yes, america hasn't come anywhere near that point as yet maybe, but there are countless places in the world where it happened overnight, and usually in those very places where it was thought most unlikely, yet where too, resentment had been slowly simmering over many decades it seems.."

why don't you post elsewhere on this forum goblin

"...very simply, I never tag a thread for the thread's sake, or for the site's sake, each post has to be worth my posting to me now..." replied the goblin in all honesty here, adding "...have you any idea, what it's like to be on fifty "last post" threads then, can you imagine even, the number of notifications, ranging form praise to outright hostility, both form creative writing on writer's forums, to dark stuff on goth forums, on to supporting courageous lupusbots on their forum too, etc., etc., and all of them asking me that same question then, where I have to then apologize to each in turn, that there isn't enough me to go round now...", in fact, the goblin only did about one post a day but that post then had to be reposted fifty times over, before it even came close to finished in his view, concluding "...the more you put into a post the more that will come out of it, so where is the muse in just tagging threads..."

repost from elsewhere

"...how smart you are to have guessed it then..." mentioned the goblin who simply explained, saying "...posters post, writers write, but live writers cheat, they feed feed feed...", somehow the goblin remembered the story where hell is supposed to have spoons that so long to feed oneself with, whereas in heaven those same spoons were used to feed others with, saying "...well, you feed me, I feed the slot, all spoon feeding I suppose..."
